Staying Safe

Please be aware that any contact with animals can present significant health risks, especially for children under 5 as they are more vulnerable to infections.

For your protection, please read the instructions below:

Adult Supervision

• Children must be supervised at all times both in the Visitor Centre and on the Stud Farm.

• Children under the age of 16 year old must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is over 18 years of age.

Pregnant Women

In order to protect their own health and that of their unborn child, women who are, or may be pregnant should avoid contact with livestock animals, especially goat, sheep, cattle and their young. This is because infectious organisms that could harm them or the unborn child (such as chlamydiosis, listeriosis, Q fever and toxoplasmosis) may be present in birth fluids of livestock animals.

Animals can bite, butt and kick

Children should be always supervised when touching, stroking, or feeding any animals. Do not enter any animal enclosure unless instructed to. When feeding the goats please ensure that you and your children feed with their hand flat as animals cannot tell the difference between fingers and food! Do not feed the horses, donkey, pigs, guinea pigs, ducks or chickens as these have their own special diets.

First Aid

First aid boxes are located at points amounted whole site. Please inform a member of staff should you require first aid and one of our trained first aiders will be happy to help.

Fire Safety

In the event of a fire, raise the alarm and make your way to the fire assembly points located in the Visitor Centre Car Park and Stud Farm pond.

Animal Behaviour

Please be aware that kicking, biting, butting, spitting, pecking, pooping, and urinating are all part of normal animal behaviour. Be aware of your surroundings, although all our animals are lovely and friendly, we cannot predict natural animal behaviour.

NOTE: We cannot accept any liability for any loss, damage or injury to persons or property howsoever caused. Your children and your belongings remain YOUR responsibility whilst visiting the Suffolk Punch Trust.
